Philippines is the 12th most populous nation in the world with over 97 million people, 32 million which are children.

Child abuse represents the biggest danger to the Filipino children, jeopardizing their lives, their health, their physical, emotional and intellectual growth. One of every four Filipino children is experiencing some form of abuse whether it be sexual exploitation, lascivious conduct, physical and verbal, neglect or abandonment.

In the Canton garbage dump outside Naga City are communities of desperately poor families known as "basureros," who live on barely the equivalent of $2 a day.

Each group has a "hole" they literally dig into the rubbish which becomes their sleeping quarters. Most people, including young children, spend their lives digging through the endless piles of Naga City's garbage, enduring the rats, flies and giant worms in search of any reusable scraps of trash that they might be able to sell.

ACF supports feeding projects which provide children with badly needed food, medicine and vitamins.
